Humantay Lake

Reaching the glacial lake at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet) is the reward for the steep hike from Soraypampa.

Photo: tour listing on Viator

Humantay Lake sits directly beneath the snow-capped Humantay and Salkantay mountains. The water gets its bright turquoise color from glacial runoff.

Remember that the lake is a sacred site and a local water source. Swimming, wading, or touching the water is strictly prohibited. You must also stay on marked trails to protect the fragile high-altitude alpine ecosystem.
